Crock-Pot® Countdown 6.5 Quart Slow Cooker

If you are invited to dinner at my house, odds are it will be something I made in the 6.5 Qt Oval Countdown Red Slow Cooke. Overwhelmingly the odds are that dinner is from this crockpot. I love it! I’ve had it for probably about 3 or more years and it makes cooking dinner a no brainer as it cooks while I’m at work. If company is coming over on a workday, I walk into the house to set the table and sit down to eat. This is a 6.5 capacity, that even allowed me to cook up to a 10 pound turkey in it that was the most juicy and most delicious I’ve ever had. And cooking it in the crock-pot freed up my oven for the other baking and cooking going on. The only issue might be cleaning the stoneware pot that the food cooks in, but spraying some oil on it before you put in the ingredients takes care of that and everything just washes off. The benefit of cooking dinner in only 1 pot, and having only 1 to clean out, is great bonus. I bought this one without doing research, just seeing the large capacity and the Crock-pot brand name, but I’m so glad I got this one. It allows me to set the time of cooking digitally and then it turns off and stays warm when it runs out. Having to come home at a certain time to stop a slowcooker from cooking takes the convenience out of it, so this was a feature I was thrilled to have! I even bought the carrying case for it so I can take food to friends who are sick, or home with a new baby. And when I bought mine it came with a tiny crockpot called the little dipper for making dips or fondues. A definite bonus!

I couldn’t agree more with esh2oe. I’m on my 2nd Crock-Pot, not because of any defect or issue, but because I brought my first one to a party and never got it back! I’m sure it’s new owner is enjoying it every bit as much as I do.

I use mine regularly, and find it a breeze to use and clean (I’ve found putting it in the dishwasher on the ‘pots and pans’ cycle makes cleaning it truly effortless).

OK, I’m sold. I LOVE Crock Pots but always have the issue of room. Mine is the traditional kind that is a circle so I alwasy run out of room except for stacking upwards. This would really aloow for more items and doesn’t tak up much more room!

Unfortunately I may have jinxed my crockpot with my review, because it just stopped working. 🙁 As you might guess, I’m fairly devastated. I wrote to the company to tell them it will not heat up, and to see if they will allow me to buy the base, since the lid and stoneware are great. I’m awaiting a reply. I can’t figure out what might have gone wrong since I’m a longtime user and am the read-the-manual type of girl. It might have worn out from overuse! 🙂 Even with this experience, I will definitely be getting another since I can’t image going through the holidays without my crockpot. Maybe I’ll have one under the christmas tree? And even looking through the website for other ones, I’m still pretty set on getting this one again for it’s size, countdown timer, and that it switches to “warm” when the time runs out. It’s served my family and I very well for a while now!

I have to agree about the long life (well, up until now esh2oe) of this crockpot. The elongated shape lets me fit just about anything in there, and the timer is the bomb! It’s very easy to pop the main pan into the dishwasher, too.

My first crockpot was my mother’s….which was one of her wedding gifts…we are talking OLD here! If I had time to go pull it out, I’d tell you all about it. That’s longevity…the only downsides to it are the round shape and the lack of a timer. But it does have that lovely 60’s brown color…

I have an update about my broken Crock-pot: After contacting the company and telling them what happened to my Crock-pot, they offered to send me a brand new one! What a great company and an excellent product. Having dealt with the Crock-pot being broken makes me realize just how often I use this machine, and them sending me a new one confirms my dedication to Crock-pot as a company as well! So, it’s definitely still worth it! Go with Crock-pot!
