Cuisinart DGB-900BC Thermal Automatic Grind & Brew

The minute we started our registry for our wedding I added the Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind-and-Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Chrome/Black. I had anticipated that moment for a long time and knew exactly what I wanted, a shiny brushed chromed, with black edging, coffee maker that took all the extra work out of making a good cup of coffee.

The wedding eventually passed, and the Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind-and-Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker became the best new item in our kitchen, or so we thought. After about a week the Grind & Brew went from exciting to unpredictable, we never knew if we were going to get an ok cup of coffee or some brownish tinged water because the beans in the grinder would jam up. My husband all of a sudden had a regular morning ritual of yelling at the Grind & Brew and then having to use chopsticks to un-jam the grinder. Following a few weeks of this we began to clean out the pot every night before bed, this helped briefly but it was becoming by far too high maintenance, especially when our expectations were so high. It’s been two years since we bought the Grind & Brew, a pregnancy and busy schedule delayed our ability to return it. We are fortunate that it still makes decent coffee when the grinder is off, though we would have been much better off buying a no name brand and paying a third of the cost.

Cuisinart is a great make and I know I won’t go wrong with it. Lots of sales after Christmas. It is on my list.

We just bought out second Grind & Brew. The first one lasted almost 7 years without a problem until a power surge when a transformer blew did it in.
I have heard that others have had issues with the grinder but we never have.

I love how it keep coffee warm for hours without burning it like a traditional coffee maker does.

I hope we get 7 more years out of our replacement.
