Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Orbo with Treat Spot

Our six-month old puppy seems to have been teething ever since we brought her home.  That said, it’s been a challenge to find toys she won’t shred within minutes of receiving.  Few toys have passed the test of keeping her attention, while being virtually indestructible.

Everyone writes and recommends the Kong toys, and for good reason – they’re very tough.  But most people know about those.

A line I’m only recently hearing of is PlanetDog.  When I went into my local petstore compaining about how even the ‘indestructible’ toys I’m buying don’t last, I was shown the Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Orbo with Treat Spot.

Holding it in my hand, I could tell immediately that Gracie would have a tough time gnawing through this one.  It resembles one of the Kong toys, but the rubber has a different texture, and is printed with an abstract globe design.  This one was pink and blue.

Initially, Gracie wasn’t very interested in it.  She’d rather have a stuffed toy she could chew until the stuffing came out.  But then we placed some peanut butter and a bit of her kibble in the treat spot, and she played with that toy all day.

It’s now our ‘go to’ toy when we need to leave Gracie in her crate while we go out, or when we just need her to be still while we get other things done around the house.  The treat spot seems to provide her with a challenging activity (getting the treat out of the toy with her tongue, or by rolling or bouncing it around seems to engage her brain) and keeps her from destroying other household items, which in the long run, will save us a bundle of money.

We’ve had it for a couple of months now, and it looks brand new (which is a really big deal, since we were throwing out toys at a rate of 2-3 per week).  A winner!  I’m now looking at other toys from this brand.  A little more expensive, but certainly worth it.

The different textures does make a difference. A little expensive – I’ll wait till Sadie (my dog) gets tired of it before I get another toy. This one is a little expensive.

We have a few of these and they are one of the few toys that my boxers don’t chew through in the first few daya they have them.
