On the Road with Magellan RoadMate 1200 GPS

I bought the Magellan RoadMate 1200 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator 2 years ago from TigerDirect refurbished. I was worried about buying a discounted refurbished system but I had to drive to Miami and had limited funds. Fortunately It got me there and back with no issues which is amazing since every trip usually involves me getting lost for a little bit.

The only time I get lost now is if Im cranking the radio and not paying attention to the directions but thats human error so I cant blame the system. It didn’t come with map updates so if you are investing in a GPS you might want to factor that it because map uploads can get expensive.

What I like about the system is that it has color coding so you can see if the road you are on has heavy traffic, etc. I can view directions with a full color road similation or can click a button to see a Maneuver List. The Maneuver List is helpful if you are somewhat familier with the area and want to get your barings.

Everything works better than anticipated except the portable dash mount. It worked well for the first year but now it doesn’t stick well at all and falls all the time. My boyfriend has a Garman and his dash mount did the same thing so that may be a universal issue.

All in All I recommend this product if you want a cost effective system that gets you where you want to go.
